THIS FORUM IS NOT CLOSING DOWN !!!!

#1

Post by MGBGT » Tue Mar 21, 2017 11:31 pm

Sadly, this will be the case unless WE so something about it AND QUICK.

I have started another topic about it but the title was somewhat misleading and quite frankly, useless at getting folks attention. This seems to be the case to me as there are members on here tonight posting about some, maybe trivial things, totally oblivious to this major problem that we now have.

To put you in the picture, 'Old Admin', started this forum up a good few years ago, but in the last few weeks decided that he did not wish to continue. A replacement came to take over ('New Admin') who is a lorry driver, nothing to do with Hermes.

Shortly after the New Admin took over, a proper dick head joined the forum and started numerous stupid topics, obviously a spammer.

New Admin was (and maybe still is?) driving on the continent, and knew nothing, so Old Admin stepped in and thankfully put a stop to Mr Dick Head.

Up until last night, all was fine as Old Admin was keeping the forum going until New Admin could resume, but sadly a bit of a falling out happened which seems to have been the last straw for Old Admin, as he has now gone, and it looks like he has gone for good.

The falling out is not my business, so I am not going to comment on that, end of, but what is my business is not what has happened but the fact that it could not have come at a worse time for couriers, we need this forum now more than ever, problems between members is one thing, but when it directly hits other members then something needs to be done as this is, after all, our livelihoods.

I will try to add a link to the other topic that I started, please post anything that could help on either, JAMES H has suggested that maybe the forum could be run on a rota basis? can anybody else help?

Fair play to New Admin for stepping in, but sadly as he has not even logged on for nearly a month, it looks like running the forum is asking too much from him as this place needs constant monitoring.

I will try and post a link to the other thread..............

Thank You. :super:

If JTC1966 takes it over, is there any chance costs could be post so others can chip in? It's for the benifit of us all. If I can help JTC1966 I will but I have limited knowledge. But would rather something small than see forum fold.

MB is the mod and the forum still has an admin, but he is away at the moment.
I dont want to see LCF fail, If I wanted to close it I could've pulled the plug years ago.

So now I'm confused? Anyone want to clear things up? Old admin gone for good? New admin away and never looked on for a month or more? Who can or is doing admin? Remember Hermes will be watching and probably praying for LFC to fold.

Never ever thought you wanted to see LCF fail xLc just sad that you're not involved. But I understand you need to move on. Take care.

MB can deal with spammers, but it's a bit unfair putting all this on his head.

Without a regular Admin, Hermes could spam this forum into oblivion if they were really determined to undermine it.

I'm not sure having an Admin that openly admits he has no interest in either courier work or the issues raised by bogus s/e is good for the future of the forum, and MGBT is right to have concerns.

Just my own personal opinion of course. I may well be way off the mark! :D

LCF is still hosted by me so I have control over it anyway. Dan only has the domain name.
There was many reason I removed myself as admin. Some are personal others have been discussed on here.
This morning I received an email from paypal, Dan has done a chargeback and paypal have refunded his money he paid me (not a great amount but thats not the point)
Does anyone have any experience of paypal chargebacks?

It could be a scam.

I've recently read somewhere about it, if I were you i'd search Paypal chargeback and see what it brings up.

Im not sure its a scam as Ive spoken to his wife on the phone?
I've received an email from Paypal stating that the buyer had filed a chargeback with his credit card company, he's claiming that the transaction was not verified?? Under the terms and conditions of Paypal, the money has been removed from my paypal account, and placed on temporary hold. Paypal say that the investigation could take upto 75 days to be concluded!

There are a few reasons why a buyer would request a chargeback:
An unauthorised payment was made with the buyer's card
The buyer didn't receive the item that was paid for
There were errors in processing the transaction
The item does not match its description
The maximum time a buyer has to file a chargeback with their credit card company is typically 120 days after the expected delivery of the agreed goods or services. Certain exceptions may apply.

This is basically the charge back system. I have had it twice both times it was scammers trying to get goods for free. PayPal eventually got me my money back but it was a length process. Probably not worth it in time but as you say that's not the point. I pursued it just out of bloody mindedness.

Seriously, look into it.

Paypal have been accused of ' trying ' to help, but, not doing much really in some cases.

Just take time out and have a look.

Hi xLc.

A reason should have been given as to why the Chargeback was made. Chargebacks are when the buyer's (Dan's) credit card company have been asked by the buyer (Dan) to reverse the transaction, even after it has been processed. I believe they are allowed to do this within 4 months of the transaction taking place. In other words, he now owns the domain name and has paid nothing for it. You'll need to contact him to have the domain transferred back into your own name. If he refuses, then you'll need to open a dispute with PayPal.

Is it a case of he doesn't want to be interested now, may be too much for him, changed his mind etc, then decided to get his money back. Just a thought . I would open a dispute with PayPal, you have provided the goods as described. Were did the "not verified" come from, not heard of that other than to do with delivery addresses.

Ok forget the dispute posts crossed over if PayPal requested info from you then you can prove your side of the transaction. Has he talked about returning the domain name to you?

xLc feel free to keep me in mind if you have the domain transferred back into your ownership and are still mindful to sell.

XLC,
Call PayPal. Any time I've had hassle (mainly as a buyer) I have called them. You'll get down to the issue a lot quicker and I have always had a fair hearing and they have reversed their original decision with my money refunded within the hour!
