Medically retired 3 years ago,,i missed it for about,,ummm,10 mins,,all about maximum profit for maximum work effort,,and if you cant perform,,you are out,,,no sympathy,no empathy,,no compassion,,as I've found out from an OD who was denied compassionate leave to attend his fathers funeral.,
Employed drivers going into work ,smiling at the managers,,thinking how nice they look and how good they are,,company men,,managers thinking back,,what an arsehole he is,,still all this free work,,, im not complaining,,boosts my bonus,,I dn't give a toss if this prick wants to give me two weeks worth of free work,, every year,,good on him,,
its dog eat dog now,,I'm glad I'm out of it,,I don't miss the job,I miss the rapport I had with my customers,,but as the job became micro managed with the introduction of HHT's,even that became unbearable,
It came to a head when the care home that my dear mother was in rang me and told me that her passing was imminent,,and to get there as soon as possible,,given that the care home was all but 15 mins away from where I was,I rang my depot and informed them of my intentions,
My delivery manager demanded that I do my pre 10 ams first,
I wont lower my standards on this forum and say my true feelings towars my dm,,but that's just one of many despicable things he has done in my time at the depot..
Needless to say,,i didn't do his precious 10 ams,,I drove straight to the care home and joined the rest of my family in helping our dear mum in her passing,
I then drove the van back and restrained myself from parking it on top of his desk,
How many other drivers feel this way?

... and now you've broken your ankle too.

Sometimes we need to hit rock bottom before we can start climbing out of the hole. Don't despair. Things won't always be like this.

I am ex as well and have not been this happy in years. I was wyw’ed just after Easter having responded to a Compliance Manager who left an abusive message on my voicemail with one of my own back to her colleague to pass onto her!! The funniest thing is it was about a parcel that I kept returning as the customer had clearly moved but hadn’t updated their new postcode so I was receiving a parcel for miles away but with my areas postcode on. But explaining that to Dunstable depot was clearly too confusing for them!!

I got a new job at my first interview and am now happily back in the ranks of employed as opposed to bogus self employment. I think however I am one of the 4500 ‘cover’ couriers as I get emails from Hermes reminding me to take photos etc and I can still access COL!!

I have kept the voicemail message and fully intend ringing the number when the tribunal give their verdict and giving the Compliance Managers a joyous send off until they inevitably put the phone down on me!!

Vindictive? Absolutely!!
