Hi there Daniel,
Hopefully someone will be along shortly to help.
Have you thought of advertising on your local facebook group to do house removals etc?

You might be better off considering other jobs. I used to be a coach driver and my load walked on and off itself!

Re: wanting to be a courier
If your going it alone (getting your own work as apposed to subbing) then you need to work out all your expenses and come up with a figure that includes a profit.
Maybe do a bit of ringing round enquiring what others charge. But whatever you do, dont do it too cheaply just to get the work.

Re: wanting to be a courier

As for pricing............well that's up to you, how much you need to live on etc etc... no two people are the same, no two areas are the same. You will need to check what prices are in your local operating area.It might be a mileage rate/ hourly rate/day rate etc etc.....
Also bear in mind you will need £4/5k to tide you over till you get paid (it could take months) in the mean time, you still need to live, and run the van.
LOTS of people think this game is easy money, i can assure you it's not. There are lots of scammers out there just waiting to rinse newbies, ie give you loads of work..... and your thinking yep this is great...... till 3 months later he vanishes and you get no money.
Keep your wits about you..................

Re: wanting to be a courier
I think currently its about £1.30 per loaded mile, from pick up point to drop off. most use google maps to work mileage out for quotes etc.
Good luck getting work its harder than you would imagine

I charge £1.40/mile for a lwb Transit van,(£20 minimum before the van even moves, but there are plenty out there waiting to undercut that price.... If your subbing for others you will get anything from £1-£1.20/mile ish.....depending on the customer.
