India Post to modernise 150,000 post-offices

India Post has teamed up with Mumbai-based Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), to modernise its post office network.

India’s largest IT services company TCS, has signed a multi-year deal to modernise the delivery of mail and packages, enhance customer experience, and launch innovative services that will drive new revenues.

TCS will implement Core System Integration deploying an integrated ERP solution that caters to mail operations, finance and accounting, and HR functions, and connects its network of over 150,000 post offices, making this the largest distributed ePostal network in the world. read more

Royal Mail to re-establish post services to Iran

Hamid Baeidinejad,  Iranian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, said last week that Royal Mail has changed its decision to reject parcels to Iran and that it will soon re-start mail delivery to Iran according to Tehran Times.

 Baeidinejad said via Twitter that the Royal Mail Company has announced it will accept packages from the UK to send letters to destinations in Iran.

Earlier this month, Royal Mail confirmed suspending mail delivery services to recipient addresses in Iran, citing Washington’s sanctions against Tehran. read more

Zambia Postal Service workers strike for second month

The strike action by Zambia Postal Services Corporation workers has entered the second month with no signs of them returning to work according to Lusakatimes.

On 18th March, Postal Services workers countrywide went on strike and demanded that they be paid their six months’ salary in arears.

According to Union Leaders many have been evicted from their houses due to failure to pay rentals and others are struggling to pay school fees. The workers vowed never to resume work until they are paid their salaries. read more


Yodel isn’t the only carrier losing money,l hear Parcelforce have also briefed their staff with the same message.
Hermes are very good undercutting competative pricing at their couriers expense. The “Packet Racket”, and the new “Postables”rates are evidence of that.
I wonder how long Hermes will be able to keep good reliable couriers working for them when they see their volumes increase, but their earnings remain static?

Hermes • I believe Hermes Couriers have hearts…

This is a post for all Hermes Couriers that I am hoping will prove me right, that despite everything the majority of Hermes Couriers care about people and will help others where they can….If you are able to could you please look up Shamus Westwood…. This man is fighting his own battles and been treated like crap by people and yet he is still out there trying to help others. He is on Facebook, if you could just take 5 minutes to look him up I would be so happy…

He is walking through the UK and needs practical help through his journey. It struck me that there must be a way that this man could be supported by couriers – we cover Rural & Town areas throughout the country which is where he walks with his pack. He needs food, water and support throughout his walking and I just thought that perhaps there are couriers out there that may be working & living where his walk will be. read more
