Furniture retailer DFS has used the versatile Traxx® quick-change frame and banner system to refresh the liveries of its commercial vehicle fleet with four new designs celebrating the UK’s love of the sofa.
Vehicle graphics specialist RGVA installed the Traxx system to the fleet in 2016 as part of DFS’s award-winning sporting ambassadors campaign – the largest single-project installation of Traxx frames and banners ever seen in Europe. Now, RGVA is revisiting the fleet to update the high definition printed banners with the new designs.
The innovative and environmentally sound Traxx system makes changing vehicle liveries quick, simple and extremely cost-effective, particularly when compared to traditional vinyl techniques. With the frames already installed, the existing printed banners are simply removed and later recycled, while the new adverts are quickly and easily slotted into place by RGVA’s skilled application team, in as little as 15 minutes.
Kimberley Knowles, Production Manager at DFS, says: “This is the first time we’ve really embraced the quick-change nature of the Traxx system. It’s been an exciting process and we’re delighted with the results. RGVA showed us last year just how rapidly the system can transform the fleet, and we’re confident their ultra-efficient approach will once again make the installation process go like clockwork.”
Unlike the previous campaign, which was promoted across numerous marketing channels, the new creatives have been developed to function as individual moving billboards, each celebrating the furniture retailer’s staff, customers and products.
The four new designs include two highlighting the handmade manufacturing process featuring DFS factory staff and two which are more lifestyle-focused.
“We developed two concepts and ultimately loved both, and as each Traxx banner is printed individually it was just as easy to go with both. Our fleet provides an opportunity to reach a huge audience right across the UK and we believe each of the new designs capture exactly what DFS represents,” Knowles adds.
The Traxx system is the lightest, slimmest and most environmentally credentialed of its kind. Each banner is printed using UV inks and EFI Vutek HS Pro printers, with the designs applied to 450gsm banner material that is fully recyclable. Once fitted, the frames are backed by a seven year, 350-change warranty.
DFS was founded in 1969 with a single store near Doncaster. Today the company employs more than 3,600 people and operates 120 retail stores in the UK, the Republic of Ireland, the Netherlands and Spain. The company also has three upholstery factories and two wood mills in the UK.
