“We can confirm that we have decided to discontinue our cooperation with Amazon Fresh in the delivery of fresh food until further notice,” a company spokeswoman said on Tuesday evening in Bonn. The market for online fresh food remains “far below expectations”.
“Due to this fact and the complexity of the entire process, we have significantly reduced our activities in this area,” the DHL spokeswoman continued.
Amazon has already been delivering its purchases via its own logistics network since this month, the industry media reported.
The corporations had allied in the spring of 2017. However, high costs in the letter and parcel segment for the full year 2018 weighed on the overall postal result. In the second quarter of this year, revenue and profit in the segment increased again significantly.
Amazon said that the company does not comment on contractual relationships with business partners. “We regularly review our offerings and ensure that we deliver the best customer experience in the areas that we believe will always be important to customers: low prices, large choice and fast delivery,” said Amazon. Business circles said that nothing was the same for Amazon Fresh customers.
