New Fortec member Stanton Logistics sets sights on expansion and investment

Rotherham-based Stanton Logistics has joined the Fortec Distribution Network as it enters into its next phase of growth.

Established ten years ago by business partners Chris McGinley and Chris Allender, Stanton originally started out providing rental trucks and drivers, using employees from its sister company – driver recruitment firm Talstaff.

After obtaining its operators’ licence in 2009, Stanton Logistics began supplying a full transport solution, specialising in three diverse areas – temperature controlled goods, motorbikes and oversized freight.

Operating out of a three-acre site with a 15,000 sq ft warehouse in Colliery Lane, in Thurnscoe, Stanton Logistics today runs a fleet of 40 vehicles and employs 80 drivers – with access to 2,000 more through Talstaff.

The company offers covers four postcode areas for Fortec, including Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and Chesterfield.

Perhaps unusually within the Fortec network, the company offers night-time deliveries to customers.

Chris McGinley said: “Our night-time deliveries are very popular. For example we have a couple of car dealerships among our customers. So our drivers will deliver car parts through the night and put them out so they are ready for use by the mechanics the next morning.

“It helps our customers deliver a seamless service to their own customers, without the disruption of taking deliveries and unloading goods during business hours.”

He added: “Although we specialise in temperature controlled distribution we also deliver ambient products and we needed a pallet network to complement our business portfolio.

“Joining the Fortec network is a first for us. We had looked at others beforehand, but we were attracted by Fortec as the focus was on service rather than volume, which suited our own business model perfectly.

“It’s still early days but our input levels are growing steadily.  It’s a fantastic opportunity for us and one which we believe will contribute to our growth targets.  We aim to increase our current turnover of £7m per annum to £9m as well as invest in a further ten vehicles “

Craig Johnson, Business Unit Director of Fortec added: “We are delighted to welcome Stanton Logistics to Fortec.

“In the short time the company has been with our network we have built an excellent relationship which we are confident will prove to be of commercial benefit to both ourselves and Stanton Logistics.

“The company is highly respected amongst our longer serving members and we look forward to being a part of its ongoing success now and in the future.”
