O’Donovan chosen for pilot of FORS practitioner recertification workshop

O’Donovan Waste Disposal, one of London’s leading construction and demolition waste management companies, has been invited to attend an exclusive Pilot for the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) Practitioner Recertification workshop.

The FORS Practitioner qualification is optional for individuals within FORS-accredited operators; a certification held by O’Donovan Waste MD, Jacqueline O’Donovan and Commercial Director, Richard Clarke.

FORS Practitioners are certified for five years with the first qualifications awarded in 2012. Individuals are required to attend nine workshops before attaining FORS Practitioner status – the FORS Practitioner Recertification workshop is introduced as an alternative to re-undertaking the nine workshops. FORS has notified all its FORS Practitioners whose certification is expiring in 2017 to offer the one-day Practitioner Recertification workshop. Upcoming workshops are scheduled for June and September.

FORS Practitioners are versed in covering all aspects of fleet management including managing work related road safety, safe and efficient fleet management, reducing fuel use and minimising fines and charges.

O’Donovan, which turns over in excess of £19m and operates a fleet of 90 HGVs, has been a FORS Gold operator for six consecutive years as of this week, due to its exceptional record and commitment to road safety.

The Pilot takes place in London at the start of April, in preparation for the Recertification workshop aimed at Practitioners wishing to renew their certification. The one-day workshop will offer current Practitioners an opportunity to refresh their knowledge and understand the changes to the FORS Standard. It will provide delegates with a series of informative updates on previous practitioner workshop subjects, as well as an insight into the specific evidence needed for the new Silver and Gold requirements.

O’Donovan Waste MD, Jacqueline O’Donovan, will attend the pilot and contribute her feedback as a leading authority for the construction and logistics industry, along with other industry representatives to ensure the workshop is designed to the best possible standard.

Ahead of the Pilot, Jacqueline said:

“We’re delighted to be involved in the pilot for the FORS Practitioner Recertification Workshop and see this as an opportunity to give something back to the industry and ensure standards remain at the very highest level.

“Safety is absolutely paramount to the success of the construction and logistics industry and the FORS accreditation scheme is an excellent way of ensuring operators aspire to achieve the very highest standards and carry out best practice. We very much look forward to taking part.”
