JDP, the leading national distributor of civils and drainage products, has specified its latest trucks from Ryder with significant safety enhancements including radio remote control cranes.
JDP has 60 vehicles in its delivery fleet, all supplied by Ryder, that operate from a nationwide network of 27 branches. Ryder has delivered seven Daf CF75.330 26 tonne dropsides and a pair of 18 tonne DAF LF55.220 dropsides, all fitted with Atlas 135A radio remote cranes as part of a £1.5m investment in transportation at JDP.
The cranes come with the capability to switch between hook and brick grab operations to offer flexibility on site while offloading.
JDP transport supervisor Jayne Bar explains: “Safety is a core value in our organisation, and we supply and deliver to clients in the civil engineering, housebuilding, and agriculture sectors, where safety management is equally a fundamental value. Our drivers can operate around the vehicle when unloading, rather than being stuck in one place with a limited view.
“Our partnership with Ryder gives JDP an enormous advantage, especially with our built-in maintenance agreement,” adds Jayne Bar. “This assists with a FORS requirement for the maintenance programme to be scheduled at least 15 months ahead. Much of our vehicle maintenance takes place out of hours, which works really well for JDP as it limits the downtime of the vehicle. The fleet stays on the road, servicing our customers.”
In 2016, JDP achieved FORS Bronze standard accreditation and is currently working towards its Silver standard. All additions to its fleet will be supplied to meet the FORS Silver standard.
John Murray, sales & marketing director at Ryder, comments: “It has been a pleasure working with JDP. Their clear emphasis on the environment, safety, and efficiency matches Ryder’s priorities. An increasing number of crane operators are specifying remote control cranes, which represent an important step forward in safe loading and unloading. Our relationship with the OEMs means we have ready access to new technologies.”
