Yes it is worth keeping. I think a lot of people visit to read as this site is the only place where you can get honest information., no spin. As for the posting it is not always that easy for people to overcome their apprehension towards posting. There are a few long term couriers on here that have been there done that and got the tea shirt.

Recent couriers may feel that they have little to contribute next to such knowledge. Also, who would really like to hear about how low my parcel volume has been this week? Then there is the packet racket that has raised its head again and that useless piece of doggy doo (HHT) that likes to do its own thing. Oh, then there was a call from Hermes demanding that I deliver a parcel to a very upset customer who has been waiting. My response, I will deliver the parcel when you get it to me, oh yes Hermes you have lost another one!
Well, sorry for the moan of the day, but I do feel rather grumpy.

I'll pay £20 too.

Just donated £20, can another nine folks do the same maybe?

To be fair, it's not too much to ask for what we get in return is it?

Looks like it.
They may however done us a favour as Nick and Gaz were clearly trying to put the boot in.

I have only been a courier for eight months but my attention was drawn over here within a couple of weeks of starting at hermes as I knew there was something inherently wrong with the working practises and the self employed label almost immediately. My research brought me here.

Since then I've been given advice regarding an issue at the sub depot which without being a member here I'd have paid a boy £200ish to fix a van I crashed a cage into while taking it out a fire exit. Hermes coughed up after initially telling me I was responsible as guess what, I am self employed.

Also in that short time from here I've learned various shortcuts how to do the job more efficiently ignoring some of Hermes stupid rules and I also have the confidence to stick up for myself if I get pulled up about it.

I've also learned about the GMB, the case against hermes and have joined the action and I'm actually really pleased to have done so.

In short this place and it's members have given me the confidence to stick up for myself and say no to the Hermes operation. It's just a crying shame that more couriers can't see the good that this place actually does and the potential it has. But for the few of us who are here it's a vital part of our lives and our work. Don't let it die.

Just donate now.

I can assure you that if the site closes any monies will be refunded.

Renewal date is only 3 weeks away and xlc is out of the country for the next two weeks, so lets surprise him with £200 in the forum paypal account when he returns.

Thanks for all the donations. We are nearly there.
You have shown without doubt how much you value LCF.
We may have our haters, but we will still be here for each of them in their hour of need.

Ignore Nick hes always ranting about stuff and is very pro hermes in an odd way. Think hes been kicked of HF On occasion and every post ive seen hes in people tell him to shut up.

I like this forum better than HF as its honest and not as moany as HF. Pleade dont go!
Also it will be a good source of honest reaction and info to the tribunal. Hermes will get rid of anything they dont like on HF.
And u should see how ur hard work has paid off,

Hi,

I've only just joined LC this week and have found this site so immensely helpful with advice and tips as a potential new courier.
Although being self-employed for over 20yrs, I've recently had two large contractors go into receivership and not pay their substantial invoices, so now find myself in a position where I need to find extra ad-hoc work, while I rebuild the business, but winter is approaching, with shorter daylight hrs, and I work around the (fine) weather, normally in daylight!

So I'm contemplating ... Hermes , partly because the depot is local, can fit 4/5hrs work during the day, and still allow me to develop my business before/after deliveries, and do only 2/3 days a week, until business recovers.

I NOW have a To Do list, What I need list, Delivery Tips, Confirm my parcel rates in writing, and also things like check dustbin day on my potential area) and aware of most (if not All) the aggravations couriers have with the running of the Co. ... just need to find out what Col ? RM, FM, CM (I think line managers) all are, and would be able to fully follow peopoles postings.

So, well worth at least £2, £5 ... due to partly knowing where I may have problems, and what issues there may be..., but whether I could (or need to) post everyday ?
First potential delivering is next week !
