ok well i will pass it on, we struggled again today as my car wont eat the loads the van did, ended up going to a Manchester driver who kinda floats between the 3 depots Chester Manchester and warrington, you are aware that can call any depot for work, you dont need to stay tied to the originating depot you signed with

yeah thats understandable, can be disheartening till your known by the various controllers, most of them have a board with preferred out of area drivers numbers on them, so can be hit and miss with the smaller depots,

yeah mid and south, when coming back up i always ring Cardiff or Bristol as im leaving south wales, then depending who has something i change route accordingly, from Cardiff, its easy to pick up outta Bristol and outta Birmingham, just ring the control rooms as you clear the area, if nothings about from rico then its time for a coffee and see whats on cx before i set of, im cheeky i just say am heading back towards Chester have you got anything going that sorta way, 90 percent of time its stuff going back to warrington, Manchester or being dropped in Liverpool that i back load. did Barry give you the sheet with all the depot numbers on them ?
just keep ringing the depots on route, is the way i do it, say your heading that way as your about 20 mins or so out, i do that both ways outward and return, its the only way the controllers are going to get to know you in the network, and not all of them are watching the screen and the tracking can be hit and miss if your logged in but inactive, so they have to manually refresh via your driver number, which in most cases means they will drop something on ya.

Yeah I’ve got phone number sheet.I got a job with Chester depo rico in March from Wrexham going near South Wales can’t remember we’re sorry but I went back with a empty van and I must say that was so disheartening driving back and not being paid took me 3 hours to get back. But I guess it’s all a learning curve.

I’ve joined proactive Despatch but not geting much work with them.Maybe because I’m new or they have there favourite drivers.NOt sure but I shouldn’t judge em yet they could be a good courier firm to work with in a few years.
Ive heard u need 3 courier firms to make the money u want.

guess it depends on how much you wanna make at the end of the week, i get enough between rico and the cx work for what i need to live on and have holidays etc, without working all the hrs god sends, keep us in the loop with proactive, may be one to watch especially with many other carriers losing contracts or being brought out by rivals

Yeah that’s true I haven’t got the hang of doing rico and cx yet my confidence ain’t there yet.
I use to do north wales with Loomis.
I did cash in transit for 10 years, I’m a novice at the moment in the courier world.
Being a courier I’ve found out you need to be good driving round the uk.But to me a experienced courier is someone who’s drove all over Europe.
Yes I’m still learning the roads.

it will come in time, just believe in your abilities, theres plenty of tips and tricks to pick up as you go along, heck i still get lost on occasion especially when going deep into the wilderness where generic postcodes still seem to be the norm, as long as you enjoy the job then thats all that really matters, feel free to holla, if ya need any advice or help with things, always happy to help.
