I am not taking my prediction too seriously as the death clock dosnt ask about health conditions etc, and my diabetes might make me roll a 7 a few years earlier than 79.....

My dear old mom passed at 89, though my dad was 77, but he pretty much got bumped off by the NHS...

69 years, 10 months and 13 days old! That's ok - my life insurance runs till i'm 70 so hubby will get a 200k payout - not wasted all those premiums for nothing!

Just re-reading this section and noticed that a couple of you have mentioned diabetes.

Have you notified DVLA about this?

Diabetes is one of the ailments that are notifiable to DVLA, otherwise you could be facing a £1,000 fine! I just found this out as my wife, who also drives, has type 2 diabetes.

For all If any of the following factors apply, you must inform the DVLA (denoted by * in the Figure 1):

If you have suffered more than one episode of severe hypoglycemia within the last 12 months (driving cars or motorcycles only)
If you have suffered any episode of severe hypoglycaemia within the last 12 months (buses, coaches or lorries)
If you experience severe hypoglycemia whilst driving
If you lose awareness of hypoglycemia
If you have visual impairment in both your eyes or in one eye if it is your only fully functioning eye
If you need to have laser treatment in both your eyes or in one eye if it is the only fully functioning eye
If you have poor blood circulation or loss of sensation (such as caused by neuropathy) that means you need to drive only particular types of vehicles, such as those with automatic gearboxes or with hand operated accelerators or brakes
If you develop a complication of diabetes or any other medical condition that affects your ability to drive safely

Figure 1: Do I need to inform the DVLA
Car or motorcycle
Diet only--No
Sulphonylureas or glinides--No
Other diabetes tablets or incretin mimetics--No
Insulin--Yes

Bus, coach or lorry
Diet only--No
Sulphonylureas or glinides--Yes
Other diabetes tablets or incretin mimetics--Yes
Insulin--Yes
Type 2 Diabetes here and self inject but not insulin, and take tablets.
I looked into this and do not have to notify DVLA unless I suffer 1 of the above, which I currently do not
I dont drive LGV's anymore.
